The Social Enterprise Schools Toolkit is an online progressive education system developed for Social Enterprise Schools (SES).
Its main feature being a collaborative, hands-on experience showing young people how to run a business. SES had existing logo and branding in place when they approached me to build this system.
SES reached out to develop an online learning portal that could be updated and added to. The portal had to be accessible across Australia as well as easy to maneuver by both staff and students. This required robust information input and an uncomplicated content management system.
Firstly, all available information was organised with our SES contact. Questions included how the portal was going to be accessed, what information would be available to the users, how the most common user flows flowed, and why they needed a system such as this. Both sitemaps and static mock ups drafts were used to firm the infrastructure and style cohesive with the SES brand. Secondly, we liaised with the contact to confirm the type of technology we could use. It is important to know the where and how before starting development. Once the infrustructure was approved, we commenced development.
During development, we were able to continue working with the SES contact. This resulted in immediate resolution of any challenges and ability to work quickly. Moreover, we were able to use a new layout model to create a responsive journey map that was comprehensive on different screen sizes. This easily updated maps is also text based which is great for SEO purposes.
Consequently, the Social Enterprise Schools Toolkit was completed in due time. We used supplied and sourced imagery and infographics to brightened up an otherwise weighty subject the report. Moreover, colour and sections made the information easy to read and understand.
Uploading the Social Enterprise Schools Toolkit
Once the system was completed, the Social Enterprise Schools Toolkit and its components were transferred to the SES hosting team.
